Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BOSTON,MA Riders with a road bike to spare this weekend?

Hello!
I apologize profusely if this is the wrong forum for such a request.

I am in a bit of a pickle right now.

I really want to go on a bike ride from wednesday - sunday this week (16th-20th) but due to a lot of bad luck I am in Boston, MA without my aluminium horse.

I had planned to bring my bike on the plane from Oslo to NY and then ride from there to Boston. (See this post:https://www.bikeforums.net/touring/95...l#post16922371)

But through a series of unfortunate events I found myself in New York a couple of days ago without my bike. Got on a bus to Boston yesterday.

I have been through a lot of bike shops in Boston and online but no one rents out road bikes. (Except one who did not have my size)

Does anyone here have an extra road bike somewhere? As long as it has some gears (sora would be all right!) and is somewhere around my size (got a 56cm back in norway, I am 179 cm tall (5 ft 10 3/4 inches) I would be extremely grateful. If you want to rent it out to me that would be great.

In a perfect world I could borrow/rent it from wednesday-sunday, but shorter would also be great.

I have everything else with me (pedals, shoes, tools, clothing, helmet etc etc) so its only the bike that I am missing.

Hope you can help a fellow bike enthusiast out! (I am dying to explore the backroads and the coast!)

That's like asking someone if they can borrow their wife for a weekend.

Find a Walmart. Buy a bike. Ride it. Return it. Total cost: $0.

I have a bike I could lend. Only problem, though, is the pedals are fused to the cranks and probably not coming off any time soon. What kind of cleats do you have?

The pedals on the bike a Look Keo's, unfortunately. I don't have any spare cleats at the moment, but if you can figure out some way to deal with that I'm still happy to let you borrow the bike. Also I'm in Somerville, which is easily accessible by bus and the Red Line, but I guess where you are in Boston would determine how convenient it actually is.

? I have never visited a location and been unable to find a bike to rent. It's not always a great bike, but there's always a road bike for rent somewhere. (could be expensive though) Boston is a modern city, they have to have bikes for rent somewhere. Hold on, I'll do a google search:

https://lmgtfy.com/?q=rent+road+bike+boston

There's a ton of options!
