Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shifter comparability

I'm looking to purchase a pair of Sram shifters and have been searching on EBay for deals. It seems like you can find a much better bargain if you were to buy a right and left shifter separately as opposed to purchasing a set. What kind if comparability issues do you risk running into using this method?

As long as you match the left shifter with the FD and the right shifter with the RD it'll be fine. In any case, all SRAM road components are intercahngable/compatible (except the hydro brakes/shifters), from Apex to Red22.

Thanks for that info. So perfectly interchangeable, regardless of year?

AFAIK, yes. SRAM hasn't done any "major" overhaul of their road group designs to my knowledge.

If you're wondering, the Yaw FD is compatible with "non-Yaw" series shifters.
