Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What I know: I sure enough make enough money to afford them, but I'm smart enough to not pay for the marketing and other associated mark ups just to have the name on my wheels.

In other words "if you could get them at 40% off, then they're cool beans and not only would you jump on them quickly but you're also no longer a poser".....

One things for sure, they won't make you any faster than any other similarly sized carbon wheel. I understand there is a lot of RD that goes into their wheels and quality of carbon is top notch which should speak for something. I went with November Rails for half the price and I'm very happy with them. I rode with a friend last night that bought some Bejing wheels for under $500 which seem to be working out well for him. The RD may be in question here though.
