Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Men's Bike Shorts

My husband asked me to get him a couple pair of bike shorts. No bibs. He rides a road bike and rides a lot. Who has a favorite? Thanks

Mainly for the great seat pad, the Castelli Free Aero Race shorts, but they are expensive and you need to size up.

Riders who ride a lot would not just have their wives go out and get them a couple pair of bike shorts. He needs to be more specific.

Why wouldn't you ask what he wants? He asked for shorts, so he knows he's getting shorts, so surprise out the window. Just ask what he wants then.

Pearl Izumi Quests have worked fine for me. They are cheap and available everywhere.

Depends on your budget of course. If money was no object I'd buy myself Assos. If you can't find a sale they are stupid expensive. Others like Castelli, Capo, Pearl Izumi, etc. are quite nice. But, as others have suggested it really depends on what fits him best.

FWIW I have Assos bibs in black and a pair in white. Both excellent. Although white does get.....attention.

Get him something different. Maybe a pair of white shorts.
