Addiction XXXVIII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey @Heathpack, the two best options for a frame mounted pump are either under the top tube or alongside your downtube. Several pump makers make a plastic mount that essentially allows you to run a pump side-car along your bottle.

Also, I highly suggest you practice using your C02 at home a couple times so you are comfortable with the technique. I am a cheapskate so I bought a dozen of them from Walmart for around 8 bucks. That way I did not feel bad using a couple to learn on.

My Diablo ride started in Oakland and went through some really beautiful areas. (Oakland hills maybe?)

I know some areas in Oakland are to be avoided. We took BART to the game, the area around the stadium seemed to be an industrial wasteland.

Actually top tube with smallest hpx might work.

I've a peg pretty far back on the 56cm TT of my park pre and it fits an HPX3.

This was one of my favorite parts of my walking tour of Oaktown. A proper newsstand! It's not far from the heart of Oakland's Chinatown where all the good foods are too.

My band played a club right near this place. Had burgers there after the gig. Great place for people watching around 1am. Might be a little dangerous, though...

My mini pump has a cute little hose and flip out pump peg so no worries there. Those features are crucial in minipumps.

Funny that your head was OK.

Oh... a $100 helmet for your hip area. That'll learn you!!!

Heathpack, I use one of these:

GIYO High Pressure Road Pump GM-02L | Buy Pumps Online | Shop @ Torpedo7

Forget about it being a New Zealand company, see if you can find something very similar. It is a compact, high-pressure pump that does the job for me. The picture shows the mount for going under the water bottle cage on either the downtube or the seat tube. I have them on all our regular-ride bikes. They are discreet and don't interfere with the lines of the bike like frame pumps do.

Pcad hasn't been in here lately. I hope all things are right with his leg. Anyone know how he's going?

Yeah, I care, but I don't know why.

I have Campy record on the Merlin and Campy Centaur on the Freschi. I think silky smooth describes it best. It makes one wonder why all the fuss about electronic shifting I mean its already precise, effortless, smooth. An idea in search of a purpose.

LOL Thank God for the help of strangers.
Halfway through yesterdays ride I realized my head felt different and reached up- forgot my helmet so I turned around and went home.

Pcad TKR Update: Hit 80º of flexion @ Monday's physical therapy session, knee pain levels improved quite a bit along with mobility. Walking without cane or crutches, once I'm warmed up, not too bad of a limp. I still have a fair amount of swelling in the knee/fluid retention in the leg, but that's improving with regular icing. Still on Percoset, I will start tapering off those over the next 7-10 days. Still hope to be cycling by October, I think that's a realistic goal. Found a good local outpatient physical therapy place, happy with them so far.

Staples come out tomorrow.
