Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Found a good local outpatient physical therapy place, happy with them so far.

Staples come out tomorrow.

I have my frame pump mount attached behind the water bottle cage on the seat tube. You can see the pump poking out on the non-drive-side.

If you do choose to go the pump route, getting one with the flexible hose (rat tail) is a must. If not, have extra tubes handy, as breaking a valve stem is entirely possible.

Yup, the Lezyme with the little hose that fits inside is pretty nifty.

FYI, I do carry two CO2 cartridges that I know how to use. They were not deployed ineffectively by moi, it was my helper. Whose help I didn't feel like I needed but in the end I accepted because it was close to getting dark and I figured two hands would be faster than one. I already had the flatted tube out of the wheel & I was trying to put a little CO2 in it before putting it in the tire (with my cartridges you can dispense just a little CO2 if necessary & then go back and dispense the rest). Helper was telling me not to do that, I explained why you would, it's easier to get tube in without any kinks, he said "ok" grabbed my cartridge and shot all the air into the tube. So then I tried to get my tube back from him but he pressed on the valve and let all the CO2 out. Then he put the deflated tube into the tire. Trying to get the tire back on, he was using the wrong end of the levers. I was kind of wrestling with him at this point to try to get them back but I guess I wasn't forceful enough, I was being too polite about it. Then he tried to inflate the tube, I don't know what happened because I was gathering up all my debris, old tube, plastic wrap, etc. The next thing I know, my last CO2 cartridge is empty, my tire is flat and the guys getting on his bike to leave.

I didn't even think at the time, just was a little shocked by the whole thing- the guy had a saddle bag so probably some CO2 cartridges of his own, I could have asked for one of those.

I wonder if he has been to a Vancouver area Wal-Mart recently.

I didn't even know about them until yesterday but, as with any local booze producers, I had to look in to them a little more. Decent stuff, it seems. Saw a bottle of their bourbon at a local shop while picking up some beer. May have to pick one up the next time I'm in need of a $50 bottle, which will (coincidentally) be around the time of the first snow fall.

Holy cow, Heathpack. I'm not sure what you could have done, as it sounds like the guy was somewhat "off". I think a full size frame pump just to use as a weapon, then use your CO2 as you normally would.

I don't often drink the hard stuff anymore. It's usually just beer and an occasional Jamison Ginger.

Meanwhile in Tomball, Texas... future Herbie HQ™, I am concerned that my Honda Fit (lowered on coil overs no less) will be swallowed by the Suburbans and full sized pick up trucks that run in packs.

I think they shoot Prius drivers on sight.

It was a Hispanic guy, I think there was a little bit of a language barrier, plus we were on a bike path next to a busy four lane road so it was noisy and hard to hear each other. Once I accepted his help, he just kind of took over & forged ahead even though I don't think he really knew what he was doing. But actually a sweet guy who was trying hard, I think he just could not imagine any man letting a woman change a flat, did not seem like a weirdo to me. I don't even think he meant to leave me high & dry at the end, I'm pretty sure he assumed I had a cell phone on me.

Now that I think about it, I don't think that I ever adjusted the saddle fore/aft when I swapped out to longer cranks... I'm wondering if that's somehow exacerbating the forefoot pressure. I'll have to adjust it while thinking about where in the hell I'm going to ride to today.
