Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So you personally change your tires every 4 months approx? Except when you are recovering from a femoral fx of course.

Did you get a ride in today?

What do you mean "threads are showing"? Where do you see the threads?

Obviously I have never seen a worn-out bicycle tire.

If you ride one long enough it gets flat in the middle and eventually the fabric innards start to show when the outer layer wears thin.

4 months, mileage, but more on feel. If the center section is too flat for my taste, I'll turn them into commuters.

It rained off and on, all day long. Rain is dangerous, and I could die, so I built my November back up. It's electric now.

I ride 'em 'til threads show or cuts get too big. Mr. Tuffy allows you to let the cuts get pretty big before retiring a tire.

Whew no innards visible but I can see that the tire is indeed a little flattish on the middle of the tread.

I have inadvertently set up two big rides this weekend, miscommunication but I'm committed now. Tomorrow's will go to places with no cell coverage, so I'm a little paranoid now about riding on bad tires. Lots of ups but more relevantly lots of downs on both rides.

Flattish is OK. Mine get positively square. Course, I'm a lunker, so I get less mileage.

Electric is expensive. Not so much for one bike, but the cost of outfitting all the rest.

No, I'm not. Just stepped outside and don't smell anything. Any idea where the fire is?

We were planning on going up & over Little T, then Kagel, then back over Little T, then up to Camp 9. 80 miles, around 7000 ft.

Sunday I'm going down to Palos Verdes for what I thought was a 35 mi/3000 ft ride. Just learning today that the plan is 70-80 mi/7000-9000 ft. We'll have to see on that one. It's a group ride that I can easily opt out of, though.

Hmmm, the "Find in Store" button on the Pro3s is greyed out. I reckon that means online only? bummer.

It's an old family Bible that Mrs. rjones28's grandmother bought to give as a gift, but changed her mind and gave a different gift. Mrs. rjones28's grandfather was a minister.
