Addiction XXXVIII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ain't that the truth. These are my cycling shoes. Yes, they're from 1994 (seriously!). And they're what I still wear when I ride. They just won't die!

And for those who don't recognize them, those things on the top are called "laces".

Other than hide them in a closet, how are you supposed to do that? I don't throw mine around or anything, but after nine years and many thousands of miles, they look worn.

My first cycling shoes were Diadora. They had laces and a full lace cover. And these cleats.

OK, you caught me. I don't do jack to take care of them. I'm actually trying to kill them. No luck, though.

Now those take me back to my high school days, but my cleats weren't that cool.

And I realized that I have a pair of shorts from that same year. They're "Supergo" branded Castelli with a real chamois in them. They won't die either, but that's probably a good thing. You do NOT want to see this in a failed pair of lycra!

i love the south. i recently took a trip to alabama to hang out with the southern trackday people and those guys are awesome. plus i think the accent is kind of hot. the weird thing is that my canadian friend that moved down there, since moving there, his canadian accent has gotten more pronounced than it was when he lived here. i've been trying to find info to send my resume to a company based in atlanta that i'd really like to work for, and the aforementioned canadian friend and his wife are still working on me moving to charlotte.

the down side is that i would really, really miss winter.
