Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Today i rode 34.4 miles using the Guadalupe river trail and the san tomas trail with detours. The weather was 52F sunny with light winds. The trails had a good amount of bike riders on it. The new tires are working pretty good for what they are. It was a good day.

Today i rode 76.1 miles from san jose to palo alto then over the dumbarton Bridge in to fremont and back. The weather was 50F sunny with strong headwinds. I do this ride to battle strong headwinds and gain strength. I also had a flat 44 miles in to the ride but fixed it in about 5-6 mins. I put the panniers and trunk bag with all my supplies back on my bike. The new tires arent very thorn resistent but they are light weight. I am close to getting two thousand miles on my bike.

Today i did 91 miles on two different bikes together, 63 miles on the road bike and 28 miles on the New mountain bike. The weather was 50F sunny with light winds. I rode from san jose to palo alto then to redwood city and back to palo alto, then i bought the mountain bike and rode it home to san jose. The new mountain bike has 3x9 drivetrain with hydro brakes and it was only $450 out the door. It a raleigh Talus 29er sport large.

Today I rode 47 miles using the Guadalupe river trail, Alviso levees(dirt), san tomas trail. The weather was 46F sunny with strong winds coming from the east. I rode the new mountain bike and i gotta say it was fun, it eats alot of energy from the 2.0 inch tires but i brought alot of powerbars to compensate. I saw a turtle on the trail today, i moved it out of the way of bikers. The 9 speed was working perfectly with the deraileur. It was a fun day, i will try to do a century with knobby tires on this bike but it will take a while.

Part 2: i rode 23.7 miles with the mountain bike to sunnyvale park and back, there was really strong headwinds like 15-20 mph, i was crawling at 8 mph. Mountain biking on asphalt with knobby tires is tiring. I did a total of 70 miles for today.

today i rode 92.1 miles from san jose to palo alto then to bay front park in menlo park then over the dumbarton bridge to fremont and around the coyote hill and then out to the levees and back to palo alto. i took a break and went to the bike shop to buy a rear rack and loaded it up with supplies and accessories, 53 pound bike!!! then took it on a 22 mile ride from palo alto to mountainview and back, i almost made it a century but my legs were toast. all this riding was done on a mountain 29er bike. i have done more than 190 miles in three days. the tires are wearing out pretty quickly, they will be bald in the next 500 miles. the weather was 46F sunny with moderate winds. i started at 5:30am and finished at 4pm what a long day.

Today i rode 30.5 miles from palo alto to san jose. I started at 4am in the morning so it was dark and cold for 2.5 hours. The weather was 46F dark with light winds, the new mountain bike with all the added weight is fun to ride. My average speed is 9 mph but the gearing is very helpful.

Part 2: i rode 45.5 miles from san jose to Morgan Hill and back using the coyote creek trail, it was heavy winds coming back like 15-20 mph. The bike is alittle bit harder to climb with all the extra weight but it is not to bad. I saw alot of bikers on the trail. My left knee is hurting but i dont know why maybe to many miles?

Today i did a total of about 60 miles, 25 miles from san jose to palo alto then 10 miles with the road bike to perfromance bicycle to check in on their hiring status, and 25 miles back to san jose. The weather was 45F sunny and cold with light winds. I also stopped by a Subway to have lunch- black forest ham with swiss cheese. I talked to two different associates about hiring and my skills, they were impressed by how much i bike and what i can do, good chance of hiring me fingers crossed. I am almost worn out the mountain tires and soon replace the 50+ mm tires with 30-32 mm slicks for commuting purposes, i converted the mountain in to a commuted bike with rear rack and panniers, trunks and accessories.

Today i rode 41.7 miles with the mountain bike from san jose to menlo park then to palo alto. The weather was 45F cloudy with rain and moderate winds. I also did 30.6 miles with the road bike from palo alto to san jose. The dirt part of the moffett bay trail was super muddy to the point where i couldnt stop spinning my wheels, i had to walk a small part of it. I also saw a dead german sheperd in east palo alto on the shoulder of university ave, wierd huh?.

Today i rode 82+ miles on two different bikes, 25 miles on the road bike from san jose to palo alto. Then 57 miles from palo alto to fremont and around the coyote hills and levees then back to san jose with the mountain bike. I had a flat this morning at about 5 am when riding. Also the levees were really muddy and fun to ride peeling out. I saw a person riding a bike with his helmet on backwards and pointing up. My left knee is throbbing for the last two days, i think i pushed my self to far with high mileage like 350-400 miles per week.

Today i rode 85.6 miles from san jose to Foster city and back. The weather was 46F sunny with light winds. I bought some 700x28c Gatorskin tires for my mountain bike, also i added fenders i had leftover, the commuter conversion is almost complete just need a better saddle. I saw a lot of cyclists around san carlos and foster city. I have now over 500 miles in 8 days of owning my new mountain/hybrid bike. I am preparing myself for the 60 mile commute roundtrip to my new possible job at Performance bicycle.

this is the latest setup of my mountain bike as a commuter/touring bike. i will use it for commuting to work, long distance rides and grocery getting. not bad for a 450$ bike with road tires. the longest distance i went with a mountain bike is 92 miles, i am hoping to beat that soon.
