Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Completed Bike Upgrade

This is a follow up to my recent thread "Upgrading My Bike" to show the final product. I went from a Shimano Sora setup to Shimano 105 5700. I converted the bottom bracket from a sealed cartridge FSA PowerDrive to Shimano Hollowtech II external BB cups. Completely recabled, new cassette coming from an 11-26 8 speed to a 11-28 10 speed. Crankset was a 50/39/30 triple swapped to a standard double. Very excited to see how the girlfriend likes it when our busy work schedules gives us time to put the pedals to the test! =)

I put my RS10 wheelset on this bike as I picked up a set of Vuelta's that I put on my Cannondale to replace her lead weight Weinmann rims that were horribly unresponsive!

Glad you posted the stock photo - I hadn't realized how much better the bike looks with all black components. You will have to report back after a couple good rides (and hills) to lot us know how the change of gearing is working for her. Love the shiny new cluster.

We tried it out yesterday and she is AMAZED at the shifting quality, not to mention the increased gearing combinations. It was very crisp, smooth bottom bracket, no creaking etc so it all went together well!
