Addiction XXXIX

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah cuz I'm sure every girl wants to find out she's been walking around half-dressed trying to impress someone who used to live with girls who were paid to look good that way.

Especially if she can be the very last one to find out and the whole rest of the thread knows. I always assume now that LoP has been everywhere and done everything but he still finds ways of surprising me. #lopislikeanogre

While the menfolk pick our way through the fog amongst these islands, she manages to: 1. Rebook her flight to arrive home Sun morning rather than evening and 2. Set up a ride for Sunday afternoon.

She also swears off:
1. Alcohol
2. Sugar
3. Fat
4. Fried stuff

From here on, will only eat vegetables, fruit & lean protein.

Except tonight.

The wedding sounds interesting. Was it pretty standard? Or did it have special Mennonite wrinkles?

52 miles with 4800 feet of climbing. I wasn't sure how I would feel on this type of ride. Being the ride starter, I had to make sure all the folks knew what to do, so I didn't get to ride with the speedsters. Feels like I didn't even work, so that bodes well for tomorrow.

I have spent the last two days using cycling for useful porpoises. We got new furniture, and had to dispose of the old. So last night I rode into the bowels of Syracuse, liberated my workplace cargo van, drove home, and loaded up. This morning was take the load to the dump, drive to the bowels of Syracuse, and take a long meandering ride home. I still haven't figured how the ride to the van was 12 miles, and the ride home was 55.

Edit: advanced posting shows that that emoticon is named after me

This is I-70 and we were about 5 miles up the road (west) from where this was taken, and the traffic was at a standstill up there. I think they're all going up in the mountains to look at the trees turning, or something.

The pic is from 1985. We were actually a literary fraternity. Co-ed fraternity, obviously.
