Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That doesn't sound racy at all.

I'm starting to think RuRu's after-hours supercenter tour just isn't worth it.

Walmart has plenty of money to provide uniforms. And some wonder why so many Americans live hand-to-mouth.

I wonder if these so-called friends and noise people know that they've been labeled as such.

@Heathpack We have a week scheduled in November scheduled and one between Christmas and New Years at the Newport Coast Villas. The Club Son Antem in Mallorca was really nice. Besides the lodging, they have a spa facility that is Euro style with all the bells and whistles. I was in the cold pool every day after cycling for 10 minutes.

Also, I loved the pics from the yachting trip. I am a sailor but I am totally agnostic when it comes to how to power the yacht.

I went to the new gas station convenient to where I work today. They have small TVs at the pumps and they play commercials while you pump your gas. I thought the gas station that played crappy soft rock was annoying. This is way worse.

Yeah, but it made possible one of the better Tonight Show bits in recent memory -

Back in my youth I worked graveyard at a gas station. I would play Motorhead over the pump speakers. Motorists LOVE Motorhead.

We would love to go to Spain or ****et, but next August we are more prosaically going to Hilton Head.

We have been all over with these timeshares. I got the Starwood for free during the bad economy, this Internet lady gave it to me because she didnt want to pay the maintenance fees any more. I used that one to trade into the Westin Kaanapali for two weeks last year, sweet! The Hyatt can be broken up into all these little pieces and each of those traded independently, in theory you can turn one week into seven. But in practice, two or three is more reasonable. Each of these units has their own trading advantage, but honestly I have more weeks than I can use right now. I should really cut back, sell one or two of them.

The boating trip was really great, even though no timeshares were involved.

...

...there used to be a guy in my neighborhood who kept pigeons, but I'm not sure if they were homers or roller pigeons.
I would see the flock flying regularly in large circles, but they disappeared a few years back. Guy probably died or moved.

Previously: royal blue or navy shirts- button-down, polo, T-shirt, etc- and pants/skirts/skorts in a color from khaki to dark brown.
Now: navy or white shirt that has a collar, black or khaki pants- except those of us in the backroom or who by virtue of title get to wear jeans, and a navy polyester vest that has a bright yellow "spark" on the back. (The spark is multi-use: Presently, it's a way to identify employees from the back. On Black Friday, it can serve as a target for the rioters to focus the pressure necessary to cut off oxygen. We learned in our crowd management videos that 300 pounds of pressure for three minutes is all it takes.)

There was a question earlier about whether I had a hard time affording the new wardrobe. No, because I can still wear jeans- although I did have to buy a few shirts with collars and will probably buy a few more because of the dusty/dirty nature of my job- and even though I'm making about minimum wage, I am working full-time unlike a lot of Walmart employees. I also have fewer people to support, no kids to feed, and lower expenses in general.

There are a few women in their twenties working the door at Walmart, but, overall, the greeters' pool is a bad place to trawl for dates unless you're into the whole "Harold & Maude" thing.

@Velo Vol would thrive with an older and bolder lady.

A rather tame anecdote that in no way approaches the bar set by those you've related previously.

228 miles in the last 28 days. Gonna get another 20 in tomorrow. CX miles count triple, right? I'll have to pull those out and run the multiplier on them.
