Was looking at the ROUBIAX SL4 disc with 9 speed SORA group & SL4 Elite disc with 11 speed SRAM but awful colors for 3K.

Shifting to the TARMAC i like this one with the 105 group.

Disc's are nice but its almost like im following the marketing instead of getting the bike [i] want.

What are the differences between the ROUBIAX & TARMAC ?

Both are very nice bikes but the ride is completely different. I test rode both when I was out looking for a new ride and the Roubaix is somewhat relaxed and just felt completely dead to me, I know that's kind of the point with all the technology built in to dampen the ride but I like to feel the road a bit more, the Tarmac has an awesome ride and is built more for speed than comfort. The Tarmac was on top of my list but at my budget I was settling for the same model as the one you listed with Sora and I wanted at least a 105 group set. As far as Disc's go, I would trade my rim braked Caad10 in a heartbeat for the new Disc model that came out in 2014 because they're just better in almost every way compared to rim brakes with greater stopping power, better modulation, ability to ride through a puddle without affecting the brake surface, better looking wheels without the brake track, and not worrying about melting a carbon rim on a steep descent. Riders from the old school or ones who recently paid a lot for their rim braked bike and Carbon Clinchers will argue this point but its true. All that said, if you "want" rim brakes then get a bike with rim brakes.

Good to hear, thanks for your assessment. I like to feel the road too and are on an aluminum TREK 1000 carbon fork n post now.

Not going to be riding cobblestones on a road bike so i must admit i bought into the "smoother is faster" Zerts & disc marketing.

Which weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of lead ?

Faster is faster & smoother is smoother IMO.

The next disc TARMAC model is super nice but at $6200 bucks fuggetaboutit.

Think the TARMAC Elite may be what im looking for unless its backordered til God knows when.

BTW are road bike spose to be drab & ugly ?

Spesh needs to ad some color to their bikes for paying thousands of dollars.

To each their own, the "trends" over the last few years on the higher end models have been black, look at the new Trek lineup, Scott Addict, Caad10 Black Inc, Supersix Hi-mod, etc... I personally like the stealthy look and have made the mistake of buying a bike or car that was too flashy and later regretted it. I really like the looks of the Tarmac from the link you posted but it's your money not mine so get what you like. There's lots of other brands out there besides Specialized.

One bike is "endurance" geometry and the other is "race" geometry. They'll give you a completely different ride. Go test them out and see which you prefer. Where do you live that you feel like you need disc brakes? It is true that there is a trend moving to discs on some road bikes but from my understanding the advantages of discs are stopping power and ability in adverse conditions like rain, snow and mud which is why they became popular on mountain bikes, cross bikes and touring bikes. A little extra stopping power is probably good for all of us but good set of calipers with good pads will stop your bike. I'm not sure the specs but I would imagine there is a weight penalty with disc over caliper
