Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So what do I call it now ?

I recently had a frame failure on my 2012 Madone 5.2. Trek is replacing the frame with a 2014 5.9 frame. If I were to sell my bike what would I call it ? I think I will just upgrade all the components to match the 5.9 specs ( 11 speed Di2 ) so I won't be so OCD about it. Then I could build a spare bike with the old 10 speed Ultegra stuff.

You could just wait to cross that bridge when you come to it. Anyway, it's not like folks keep their bikes all original.

I'd be upfront with what happened when you sell it. What was the failure?

Yeah, because that's not OCD at all.

I'm all for being upfront about any issue with a bike. But none of that is relevant here. It's a different frame entirely. There's nothing wrong with it, and how it came to have that component mix isn't important.

Use the Ultegra on the new frame, call it a 5.55, and ask your doctor if Paxil is right for you.

medea, hecate or clytemnestra come to mind as does jezebel but perhaps sybil, carrie or miley is more contemporary and to your liking.
just don't get saucy and overbold about it.

I have a 2009 Giant Advanced TCR frame with Red group and unmatched, personally chosen cockpit parts, wheels built by me. I call it (drum roll please)...MY BLUE BIKE. Whenever I call it that, it comes right to me and heels.

Since you're getting another carbon frame you should wait to see if that one will fail before you sell it as well.
