Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized "Crashed Helmet Policy"

I have to give a shout out to Specialized and their "Crashed Helmet Policy". About two months ago I purchased another Specialized helmet (Propero II). Yesterday morning I went down HARD on wet roads. I think I may have had a mild concussion, I was dazed for a few minutes, blurred vision etc. When I got home I checked the helmet and it was cracked along the left side and all scuffed up. Specialized will give you a 20% discount (50% in Canada) if you bring in the helmet with your receipt showing your purchase in the last two years. Luckily I kept the receipt. I read about it online, the dealer wasn't even aware of it, they called Specialized to confirm. I'm not sure about other brands but I would suspect they offer something similar. Two lessons here: 1. wear your helmet and 2. keep your receipt. Now if I could get a discount on replacing the shredded kit.

Ride Safe!

Trek has better warranty.
I think they also cover 2 years replacement. I had my helmet cracked two or three month past the 2 years, had no receipt, but told the Trek at what store and approx what date I have purchased the helmet. They sent me the new one for free. Did not need the receipt

I wish they saved mine after the crash I had in June that put in on the ventilator for 3 weeks. The told me it was completely crushed. Probably one of the very few things that saved me. I would love to take one good look at it. Thank you Bell Gage. I bet Bell would have replaced it if I show it to them.

Hope your recovering okay. I'll never even take a short leisure ride without a helmet now.

I would have bought a Bontrager helmet since I'm a Trek guy but I didn't find them as comfortable and cool as the Specialized. Hearing this though I may give them a second look next time. Thanks for the info!
