Giant P-R2 Wheelset
I'm looking at picking up a used set of Giant P-R2 wheels to replace the bent aluminum set on my old road bike.
I found a set that's fairly new with less than 2,000km on them
Hubs run perfectly smooth and rim tape is like new
The owner is asking $150 but I may be able to get them for $60.
What are these wheels worth in their condition?

I've got PR2's on my Defy. At about 2500 miles the rear is just starting to need a little adjustment. I've been thinking about upgrading all year so I've done a bunch of reading on these. Just about everything I've read has been positive. They're not super light but seem to be a dependable good quality wheelset. I think $150 is too much, but somewhere between $50 and $100 would probably be a good buy as long as their in good shape.

They're super basic low end wheels. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on wheels then they should be a good option for you. Looks like you said you needed to replace a set anyway so - have at it...assuming you aren't looking at picking up a more durable long term setup.
As for what they're worth....that comes down to what you're willing to pay for them. My first instinct is to say they aren't worth $150, but in reality if they are working then there really isn't anything else out there that can be realistically built for $150 much less lower than that. So in other words if they are round and go around then whatever you spend ($150 or less) essentially fills the role of wheels at a price that's hard to shop around at for other alternatives.

the rear wheel on the PR2's on my 2013 defy developed cracks at 10 or 11 of the spoke holes at 5000 miles. So I bought another and figure I'll get 5000 miles out of this one. the hubs have stayed perfect for all those miles and have never been serviced. Both stayed true except for an occasional spoke that loosened on the rear wheel. the new rear has not stayed quite as true and needs some attention. For 60 bucks I dont think you can go wrong with those wheels.

What are you expecting to find? Shimano? DT? No....
They are from companies like KaI, joy tech, bitex, Alex, th industries, chosen, powerway,...etc
If you contact one of those companies they might sell you a sample set of hubs for about what you want to pay for that set of built wheels you're debating over. Just remember you're going to have to pay import duties on some of the items.

I'm lucky? I could ride my bike to Rob's.......................... and I also have another good wheel builder about 1 mile from my house....... Rob, about 15.
Or, a cheap way out, if Rob would do it - buy from Velomine, ship to Rob, and then have Rob reship.

Cross season is at the middle ebb point and we are actually moving into a new facility starting next week. I'm just trying to enjoy the 1 slow week I've have since last winter. Wanderer - We're going into the old Bicycle Garage in East Dundee where I have had my computrainer center for the last 5 years. At least you wouldn't have to get off the trail at this point.
