Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Stop me before I run again...!

OK, it's getting warm and sunny around here... And I only have an hour for lunch... And the trip from my job to the Y is 10 minutes... So it just kind of makes sense to pull on a pair of shorts and go for a run for 30 minutes or so. Sheesh, in thirty minutes, I would barely be warmed up on my bike, but when I go running, I get my heart rate up and feel the muscle burn. It's handy, it's a great workout, it fits into my schedule - and I'm enjoying it.... YIKES... Stop me before I run again!!

There's nothing wrong with running and cycling both. Just because you bicycle doesn't mean you can't take up any other form of aerobic activity. Run, swim, bike, jog... do it all, they all have their place.

You can't keep your bike at work? It would be much cooler if you could get a 50 minute ride in rather than a 30 minute run. When you do your ride, just make it a higher intensity interval ride instead of a steady endurance ride. That way, you don't have to worry about taking 30 minutes to warm up.

My mid week exercise is often running. I like both and do both.
