I googled it. WebMd does not mention anything that sounds like it would lead to weight loss.

"Speed. The tiny blue diet pill you don’t have to be overweight to need. Why not ask your family doctor for a prescription today? And when that runs out, you can ask your neighbor’s doctor. And your mother’s doctor. And your college roommate’s doctor. And your best friend from high school’s doctor. And your babysitter’s doctor . . "

weight loss is weird. when i consciously make the effort, it won't shift. when i get distracted and don't have time for eating consciously, i lose weight quickly.

Good ride today. Conditions were more typical for January or February, with temps in the 20's for most of the ride. We had a total of 5 riders which is half our usual but enough to make it a group ride. Winter pace, we took a little shortcut and ended up with 45 miles.
My bottle did not freeze. I do recall problems with it freezing at the spout last year when temps were in the teens.

Can anyone help me understand this?
Long story, so buckle up for the ride!
At 5' 7.5" I am satisfied when I can keep my weight around 160 lb or my BMI just below 25. About a year ago I started gaining weight and for the last 6 months or so have been around 173 lb. Feeble attempts at low carb, moderate fat dieting haven't had the same success I was used to from the past. The testosterone injections I started about 7 months ago (not specifically for this reason) seemed to help me stabilize the weight and start to build a little muscle, but I still haven't been able to get any weight off. Admittedly the attempts have been half-hearted, but still...
A couple of months of heavy (for me) cycling activity (>100 miles per week for about 8 weeks in a row) was also helping me to keep my weight constant, but that came to an end a couple of weeks ago with the first cold spell this year in Houston. Wussy or not, I just don't like cycling in the cold or even moderately cool weather. And I just haven't yet gotten desperate enough to start on the indoor trainer though I have really been concerned that I would start to see the weight rising again.
About three weeks ago I received a suspicious email, nominally from an acquaintance I don't communicate with often, but most likely the result of a raid on her email contact list. It had a brief greeting and the recommendation to follow an internet link to something I "just have to see". At this point I didn't recognize the message wasn't from my friend and followed the link. Luckily I was on my iPhone, not my computer in case something really bad might have happened. What I found was an advertisement for a dietary supplement "Forskolin" (coleus forskohli root extract) that is supposed to impart magical weight loss properties. I didn't want to deal with the suspicious web site so I searched for the product and found it on Amazon. I think $17 for a 30 day supply. It was endorsed on the Amazon listing by several celebrities. I know, this is sounding really and classically stupid, but for some reason I just got an itch and decided for $17 (30 days) to try it. As an experimental scientist, I felt even the expected failure would be a learning experience.
So two weeks into the "therapy", I am 5 lb lighter with no other dietary changes. I suspect some diuretic effect is included in that weight loss, but nowhere near 5 lb. And the weight loss didn't occur all at once as I would have expected from a diuretic. I have been losing very gradually every day.
I have been doing some floor exercises and dumbbell work but no cardio workouts for the entire period. I'm eating a full range of foods including animal protein and moderate amounts of carbs and fat. Sandwich (which I crave) for lunch instead of a mandatory salad. Small dessert after dinner. Actually a diet I am very comfortable with for the long haul, but not one that usually brings about weight loss.
This whole episode is so out of character for me. Can anybody tell me this is really possible? Other ideas? Am I dreaming? I feel like Jack the morning after he planted the beans.
No, I'm neither trolling nor shilling. Just hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this.

I would assume that you've been slowly gaining muscle over the previous seven months due to the testosterone. Those gains would also slowly increase the rate at which you burn calories and would explain the relative weight equilibrium until the presumed tipping point a few weeks ago. The changing muscle/fat balance obviously wouldn't be apparent to you based solely upon BMI - you would have had to track it with calipers, displacement or electrical impedance, etc.
