first new road bike in about 10 years!
So the last time I bought a road bike back at the end of '04 I posted about it, and almost 10 years later I've made an upgrade! Sadly a local shop was going out of business and had to let everything go. I picked up a 2014 Scott Carbon CR1 10 10-speed with Ultegra carbon levers and Ultegra RD for right around 1k before tax. I've only ridden Trek (Road) and Cervelo (Tri) and probably would not have thought about Scott except for the deal they were offering. Not 11 speed, but Ive done fine with 10 so far. Any satisfied CR 1 riders out there?

Ungortunately not, I think I pretty much swooped in at the end of it! Tall guy leftovers, an XL framesize. I'm hoping that means you concur that it was a pretty good deal ;-).

Yeah, that's like used Craigslist pricing. Do you still get a warranty?

Great deal!! Well done!! (I agree, sad to hear the shop closing but somebody had to get the deal, right?)
Curious......what's on the FD? Is it not Ultegra? (not that it matters)
If I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd have a borderline bike purchasing disorder, for sure.

The FD is Tiagra, and the cranks and brakes are non series too. Still, bargain find.

first off, nice color scheme on your Cayo! What's the deal with Focus? Are they good bikes? The LBS by me got a bunch of close outs in (meaning they are NOT a permanent dealer) and are blowing them out at great prices.

Yep, Tiagra. They saved some $ on the bike by going Tiagra on the cassette and the FD. The crankset is a Shimano FC R565. Brakes are the non-series Shimano black. I thought about swapping the crank out for an Ultegra crank, esp. since the mechanics forum tells me that the Shimano press fit BB is completely compatible, but couldn't justify the cost for less than 100 grams and probably little appreciable performance diff for me.

they are big in europe, smaller in n. america. LBS was closing this out for $1800, has ultegra shifters, cassette, derail, with Focus brakes (their brand called concept). it was the smoothest bike i tested hands down, just rolls with ease. its a smidge heavier than a lot of the $2400+ range but for $1800 i cant complain. i may upgrade wheels in a year to drop a few pounds
