I was using the "old style" and even bought new sets and could never stop the squeal.
Glad to hear the "new style" is better.
anyone wanna buy a few sets of old new pads? lol

Do you have them slightly "toed in" with the front edge making initial contact? Just about any pad can squel especially when the surface is smooth and slick.

I have both the new and old. They both still squeal, I tried toeing them in, but they didn't shut up. I don't actually mind the noise.
I have also tried cleaning the brake track and contact surface of the pads, but no improvement.

I have a pair of the 58mm carbon clinchers and I have only used the pads that came with them. Since they are race day only wheels for me I keep the brake track and pads really clean and I have not noticed any squeaking ever. I have also been nothing but extremely pleased with these wheels. They are fantastic and worth every dollar.

The newest brake pads we have (the Onyx ones) are designed to work with our newest rims (with the Unidirectional carbon fiber and the gray valve tag on the rim). With that I have been unable to get any squeal at all no matter how hard I try with many different brake pads and many different rims as examples.
Some of the older model stuff (the narrower V-shape, or our newer stuff with the 3k weave) is possible to squeal a little bit. It's not so much a function of the brake pads, but more about the rim finish and weave. I had tried a few brake pads with some of the older model wheels and could never completely eliminate the squeal, although it was pretty random.
Toeing in the brake pads is definitely the best solution. Keeping the rim and the brake pads clean with a rag and rubbing alcohol is also a great way to keep the rim silent.
If you don't mind answering, which rims do you have?

I know it's inevitable, I just want to delay it for a few more miles.

But, the pads are made from a very well know brake pad manufacturer who makes a lot of pads for all different types of carbon rims. The whole point was to help keep the temperatures low while also providing good stopping power. They should work just as well as any other carbon specific pads even if you are not on our wheels.

Those are our 2013 model 44mm clinchers. Did you just get the Onyx pads? I have noticed it is possible to make the pads squeal a bit on the rims with the 3k weave.
Definitely toe in the brake pads a bit so the front hits the rim first. Also, clean the brake track and the pads off really well with a rag and rubbing alcohol.

I only learned of the "onyx" from this thread.
I've been running bontrager cork with good success.
sorry for the confusion.

I'm using Black Prince on older Boyds no squeal. 58/50 3 years old now, ~15k miles zero problems.
