Alternatives to Watt bike??
Hi guys, I have been attending a weekly watt bike class to try and aid my TT training. The concept of indoor training does have some appeals. I'm basically chasing a static bike, not a turbo trainer. My question, does anyone have any information on a product similar to the Watt bike that gives the user a power reading and does not cost $4000.
Many thanks

That would do it, and not necessarily $4,000, but probably $2,000. But of course only a more modest cost if one already has the bike as you would expect.

If you're asking about a stationary bike that has power and you don't want a trainer then something like the Cycleops Indoor Cycles would seem to be an alternative to the Wattbike. They have a Power Tap hub built-in, and they cost less. They don't use an air fan for resistance but they have a pretty big flywheel. They don't do the pedal analysis that the WattBike does, but there's really not much use for that.
However, if you're not dead set on a stationary bike, something like the Wahoo Kickr could probably work for you. They're around $1000.

I suspect he already has a road bike, you could pick up a used power meter for about $300. You could get a good one for $600 new.
