Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

shaved my legs and never grew back

crashed a few years back and after painful separation of hair, gravel, etc decided to shave.

then I took the winter off and noticed something disturbing: the leg hair did not grow back.

a year went by and it still didn't grow back.

weird huh?

How old are you? Is your testosterone low? Diminished leg hair can be a sign of low T. It might have been thinning but not noticeable, new growth struggling to keep up with natural loss. Taking it all away at once showed the problem. Just a hunch. But considering the various conditions it could be associated with, I would discuss it with my physician.

I wish!

But yes ... could be something hormonal. Are you perimenopausal or menopausal?

Due to OP's comment that leg hair had made cleaning the wound harder I assumed we were dealing with a guy.

Not necessarily ... many women don't shave their legs unless they really need to.

Shaving wouldn't have any effect on future hair growth. You are just cutting the hair at the skin level, not affecting anything below the skin where growth occurs.

Right ... that's why I'm guessing it might be something hormonal.

Are you a guy or gal? If a guy, do you shave your face often, and if so, how quickly does it grow back? And your back, how often do you shave your back???

Head and face aren't good indicators. Loss of head and facial hair follows different rules than body hair. I find the legs are the first to go with aging.

Very true in many societies. But in the mainstream US, it is the norm. There are certainly outliers, but they are just that.

They make pills for that now. But they have a weird side effect of your leg hair not growing.

if you're older, and are a professional of some nature, and routinely wear tight dress socks, it could also be contributing to the lack of regrowth.

I know dress socks used to have enough rubbing to help thin out the hair on my legs... and boxer briefs definitely thin it out on my thighs

Is that why young men now wear the same 'skinny jeans' that the young women are wearing? It's a form of leg hair repellent?
