LVWA carbon wheels on Amazon
What's te deal on these wheels? Are they junk or what. Why are they half the price of ZIPP and others? Any information would be appreciated.

60 mm clinchers are inherently not feather-light. These also look about 100-150 g heavier than typical for a pair of Chinese carbon wheels. Working back from their declared weights (assuming A271 front hub, F372 rear hub, PSR1422 spokes or the like, and alloy nipples), I get 590 g per rim. For equivalent rims, light-bicycle quotes 500 g / rim, ACE quotes 540 g and yishunbike quotes 550 g. Either their rims are unusually heavy (not necessarily a bad thing for clinchers) or they include QRs in the total weight.
P.S. My own 50 mm tubular rims from one of these suppliers weighed in at 390 g / rim. Extra 10 mm of depth and being a clincher makes a lot of difference.

And by the way, Chris King hubs aren't as light as the Taiwanese hubs that so many popular wheels are built with these days. Figure 280g for the pair instead of 317. So let's just say 1,540g for a best rim made up with respectable but not flashy hubs.
The advertised wheels may differ in many ways from the best of the best, but the most obvious difference is that they are heavy.

ENVE doesn't offer a 60mm front, 60 mm rear built set, but they do have a 60/70 that weighs 1586g with Chris King R45 hubs. The 70mm rim weighs 22g more than the 60. So with two 60s, the pair would weigh about 1570g if you assume some extra weight for the longer spokes. That is a half pound lighter than the subject rims in this thread. That is what I meant by somewhat porky.
