What Are Your Cycling Goals for 2015?
I just started cycling this summer. I was an over weight and out of shape 49 year-old. Since I started riding, I've lost some weight, my blood pressure is on it's way down, I feel more fit and I reached my end of year goal of cycling a 30 mile ride.
Goals for 2015 (not in any order):
1. Start riding with Saturday morning C groups by early to mid February, B groups by mid- spring. I was told by a couple of guys I was close to B level when I rode a 27 mile Tour de Cure ride in November. We'll see.
2. Do a metric century by the end of the summer.
3. Purchase a decent tour/commuting bike.
4. Start commuting to work by the end of the spring/ beginning of summer. It's 10 miles each way. This will require me to first install a shower in my bathroom at work. I have a plumber friend who will get the job done. I also need appropriate weather clothing for this goal. The biggest road block will be the money to get this done in time.
5. Ride a three day cycle tour across south Florida, from the west to east coast during my vacation week-- Independence Day week.
6. Lose at least another 35 lbs. 45 would be better, but I'd be satisfied with 35.

Make it there and back, and get some cool pics along the way. I actually mean that. I have had a tons of goals throughout my life, and biking for me is all about fun and some exercise. I do plan a 100 mile trail ride this summer, but it will be over three days and hotels with hot showers at night.

Tour of the California Alps (aka "The Death Ride"): 15,000 feet of climbing, 129 miles, 5 mountain passes. You need to climb all five passes to get the "finishers' jersey": I want that jersey.
Other than that, stay safe, keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down, etc.

I never set a mileage goal, just want to ride accident and injury free. This year I made it to Jan. 7th, did a header over a guardrail, nasty cut on knee, nothing after that. Hope 2015 goes better.

Also in no specific order:
1. Ride 3 loops (or more) at Bike the Drive
2. Start riding in group rides
3. Join a local cycling club in my area and do some rides with them
4. Keep my fitness level thru the whole cycling season
5. 1000 miles, probably pretty low for me but I haven't kept track of mileage til late last year so hard to say how high I can go
6. Extend the season by starting earlier and going later, i.e. riding in colder weather

1. Do my first race with my college team
2. Finish a road race
3. 7,500 miles
4. 240,000 ft climbing
5. Don't break any bones (haven't yet, we'll see how that goes)
6. Somewhat not-flat century
I'd also love to try mountain biking.

Get the weight back down to where I was a few years ago.
Get back to riding with the fast groups like I did when I weighed less a few years ago.
Convert the Giant to a 170 compact (already purchased, just need to install).
Changing the Tarmac to a double from the current triple.
Get back to not less than 3 rides per week and not less than 100 miles per week.

1. Keep a mileage log. I haven't done that for a couple years. Then, at the end of the year, my friends talk about their mileage, and I can't join in the conversation.
2. Not be such a weanie on my mountain bike.
3. The full century at the Garrett County Gran Fondo. I have done the metric with 8000' of climbing a couple times. Now it is time to step things up.
4. Also in Garrett County, MD, is the Savageman triathlon (yes, I know this isn't strictly a cycling goal). The bike course has an HC climb with a stretch at 31% grade. If you complete the entire race within the time limits and make it up that 31% grade, known as the Westernport Wall, without putting a foot down, they engrave your name in a brick and embed it in the road. I don't care if I am DFL in the race; I want that brick.

My goal is Tri related too; I want to do an Olympic distance tri in under 2:45. I did a sprint in just under 1:30 in 2013, I want to pick up the distance and pace.

To stay out of the hospital would be nice, but after that last big wreck my doctor warned me I'd need hernia surgery within 6-12 months.

I'd like the following goals achieved.
1. Ride up Glendora Ridge Road straight up to the Ski Lifts.
2. Explore more of the Santa Monica Mountains.
3. Find a frame and Build up a new FrankenRoadie for bashing/climbing.
4. Ride with people more.

I just want to put more miles in.
I started dirt biking again 5 years ago,it put a hurting on my milage, and sold it last August.
Now I plan on spending quite a bit of time on my bike.
My son and I are going to do some fishing from our bikes, ride up the trail near the New River for some smallmouths.

I want to become a much better rider (smoother shifting, better braking, better control on turns, continuing profeciency).
Want to ride at least 100 miles per month, 1200 next year.
Want to increase to 25 miles and an 18-20 mph average.
