Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There are lots of photo threads for your bicycle against various backdrops (see my signature line for a thread which includes links to all/most of them). This one is a bit different and potentially more challenging ... getting a photo of you on your bicycle.

You can take a selfie ... you can even set your camera up on 10-second delay and get a photo of yourself straddling your bicycle, posed ready to ride.

In 2012, I set up a camera on a tripod on the 10-second delay mode, cycled past it and clicked the button, pulled a quick U-turn and rode past the camera when it clicked. Took several tries, but I got it.

You could get creative and take a shot into a reflective surface (window, water) ... or maybe a shadow shot. We do have some really creative photographers here who could come up with some interesting angles and perspectives.

This was last year, but as an example ...

And of course, you can get a friend to take photos of you in action ... some of the best are the ones I've seen are where forum members are slogging up a hill or participating in a race ... where you're concentrating on the matter at hand and not posing for the camera.

I constantly have to remind myself my phone has a camera but its hard to take self portraits.

Trying in good faith to participate in the thread with what i have.

Take what you want and leave the rest.

It CANNOT be so cold in ATL that you need a full face mask...I mean, if there's no snow, it's not that cold.

It was down to 12 degrees (and close to 0 degrees with the wind chill) in the morning a couple days ago; it has been unusually cold.

It was 23F. I was riding with it mostly down. Just put it on for the pic. However, that is me getting out of the shop because the bike would not shift. I was told that the lubrication on the internal cables had frozen so it was not letting the Derailleur drop. Rode 25 miles on the big ring.

My main bike is in the shop for a 10,000 miles (2 year) maintenance visit.
So I am on my able and willing back up, an '81 Univega Gran Turismo, retro to modern conversion.
It has a Sora Triple, 700c wheels and Tektro long reach brakes. 67 miles and 2,000 feet today.

Nice! I've never done Usery yet. You picked a fine time to come to the desert, the weather is perfect...even had a nice little rain storm this morning. Enjoy and be sure to keep posting up photos!
