Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I led my first group ride yesterday...wanted to start something for people that started a little later in the morning and wasn't as aggressive as the local shop rides. I don't mind the shop rides, but I don't need to get up at 5am to hammer at 20-25mph every weekend. It was nice to be able to sleep in and have a more casually paced ride. Anyway, that's me in the lightning bolts!

Probably hard to tell the locale, but this was me during a city ride with 30,000+ other participants.. I have no idea where they all are though.

"Jet's"... ugh. Someone should be shot for that sign.

Me on the left, racing on Sunday rocking ankle socks, hairy legs, vuelta wheels, curvy back... basically the Cat 4 dream.

Well....pendatically speaking, maybe......but we're talking two, and sometimes three "jets" a day, every 8-12 hours, so, "Stop when jet is taking off" makes sense too. The island is only 20 miles in circumference, so it's a "thing" for locals and the odd tourist like me to stand at the end of the runway, hold on for dear life, and get jet-blasted.

Plural is fine even if multiple jets aren't taking off together, I just meant the mis-use of the possessive apostrophe (jet's), that is one of my biggest grammar pet peeves. I see it on a lot of commercial signs around here and it drives me banana's.

Well, it's my mountain bike, but I'm going to post them anyway...

I was trying to be all cool and slide my back tire, unfortunately, I just ran into a cactus.

Me picking thorns out of my wheel, woohoo for tubeless.
