Any recos for a sleek-cut, pocket-stuffable wind jacket? I have a Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier that is just ok--it's better than what I used to use (an older, casual rider model PI jacket) but its arms still flap like mad and I know that is slowing me down not to mention the irritating noise. I'm open to brand and price--I just want it to work. Thanks in advance.

I have yet to find the perfect one myself. Bought an Assos Blitz Feder shell jacket but haven't had the chance to put in to the test.

I have the Sottile, and while it's trim cut through the sleeves and body, I think I'm a little broad of shoulder for it, and I get bunching and flapping right under my ears, which is absolutely maddening. Narrower folk should be happy with it.

I use the Voler Jet. Fits tighter than most and stuffs to the size of a large orange. Best jacket I've ever had.

I have gravitated towards vests the last few swasons. Castelli vests are all pretty tight and the wind stopper vests are warm down to the mid 30°. I use long sleeve jerseys when it is cold and short sleeve with arm warmers when irmild

Check out the Cannondale jackets they have a pretty snug fit. I have a PI elite barrier convertible jacket and this season got a Cannondale Morphis and Pack Me jackets and both fit my lanky 5'11.5" frame better - in a size Med , snug but not too snug and long enough in arms and body. The Pack Me jacket is extremely thin and can ball up to the size of a fist for easy stowing yet still provides warmth and protection from rain.

I have a wind vest I like a lot and I use arm warmers and an undie shirt with my jersey. I want a jacket though for the brutally cold mornings and/or mistly days--something to block the cold on my arms besides warmers.

Have you considered a jersey with a wind resistant front?
That's what I'm trying to get, and so far I found:

- Louis Garneau Boreal: this has a windproof front.
- Castelli Trasparente Due: it seems the lower arms do not have wind protection.
- Castelli Alpha: that seems to be also rather warm.

The other jerseys with a wind resistant front are usually for colder weather and often also water resistant/proof so that might not fit your requirements.

Not sure what your temp range is, but I got a Castelli Gabba and it really does live up to the hype. I use the zip sleeve one, and I have worn it in the low 40s with just a jersey under and been pretty warm once Im up to speed. The thing that I noticed about it is that I can go down a hill and not be cold and back and not be hot with only a slight dip in the zipper. It really is an amazing piece. If I really had to go out in colder weather, it is fitted well enough to go under my old PI winter jersey. Just size up one size, as they fit like most Euro brands do. Im somewhere between a M and L in PI stuff, and the Gabba in XL fits great.

How small does it fold up if you ever get way too warm? Could you fit it in the back pocket of another jersey if you had to?

Again, I think it depends on the temp range. There is no way you are going to pack this jersey in a pocket; however, with the sleeves zipped off it will easily ride into the upper 60's, and the sleeves are pretty easy to pack into a jersey. Depending on your layering, you easily can get a 20-25 degree range from the jacket, which is a pretty big swing on most rides.
