Entry Level Road Bike, would like some advice

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My bad, it's Buy Road Bikes & Parts at Ribble Cycles | Online Bike Shop. I suggest 105 out of personal preference. When I compare 105 to sora I notice a huge improvement in shifting for not much extra cost. That's just my own experience though. Finding a good bike with 105 for $1000 is possible. You don't need 105 throughout either.

What concerns you about the 105's maintenance exactly?

Ended up ordering the Specialized Allez Elite. I sat on the Cannondale and a Giant TCR 0, and this one felt the best, although the Giant TCR had better components, except for maybe the crank and brakes. Put the guy at the LBS through a gruelling day, but I bought everything I needed and even fixed my Seek R3.

I'll have to post some pics when I get it and take her up as high as I can get it.

With 105 brakes. I don't know how high I climbed, but it was much higher than I've ever climbed before.
