First ride, new Emonda SLR - Sram Red 22 - Zipp 303
Picked up my new bike yesterday and since it was a balmy 37* outside today I took it for its first ride.
Old bike: Madone 4.6c - Sram Rival - Easton EC90SL - Conti GP4000S 23mm - Look Max 2 carbon pedals
New bike: Emonda SLR - Sram Red 22 - Zipp 303 - Conti GL4000SII 25mm - Look Blade pedals
It's like going from a Porsche Boxter to a GT2. The bike accelerates as you start getting out of the saddle. It's responsive, very stiff and the steering is very "light". The Red 22 is so much nicer than the Rival. The shifting is flawless, up and down the cassette, from large to small chain ring. It's like going from a car with a 4 speed to a Ferrari with paddle shifting. You barely have to touch the paddles and they shift silky smooth.
So, is my new bike worth 2.5x the cost of the old... I think so.
I'm looking forward to the warmer weather and putting many miles on it.

I went from a Fuji Gran Fondo (carbon frame and 10spd Ultegra but everything else was cheap) to an Emonda SL8 (Dura Ace 11spd and no cheap parts). Similar experience to what you felt. Major improvement.

I was just about to say... I haven't seen a photo of your SLR in a thread yet today. Case closed it would appear!
Many happy years with the bike, it looks awesome.

Heh. It comes with the territory. When you're real proud of something you want to shout it from on top of a mountain, no harm in that.
I can always tell when a buddy gets a new bike on Facebook, it pretty much dominates my feed for the rest of that week. That and the "new bike fitness" Strava PRs.
As someone who works a Trek retailer and has sold several SLRs (including a 10) any 'new bike' happiness, is a-ok!

I don't do Facebook, but the LBS posted a picture on their Facebook page. The shop owner was pretty impressed with my bike and felt it was a better all around bike over the SLR 10.

Nice to see a good looking bike that isn't a rolling billboard. Enjoy.
