Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

3K, UD is unattractive, IMO. the 3K is just superficial. underneath it's all UD, AFAIK.

and no i didn't take a hacksaw to my frame to prove it to myself, i'm taking it on faith that the info i've read on it is accurate.

BTW, i've got 12K on one frame, and i prefer it to 3K. the 12K can be seen from more than five feet away. the 3k not so much.

Yes, the very outer layer of carbon is the only thing that changes with either. Pick the look you prefer.

Which vendor are you going with?

That's awesome - they actually charge you EXTRA to put decals on the bike? Um, I'll take no decals for -$30 Alex.

I personally think UD would look better on wheels. make sure you post a review after you've had them for a few months.

Same here. I've had a glossy 3k carbon finish frame since 2007, and the carbon weave just looks dated to me. My latest frame is matte 3k, and it looks better IMO.

The frame I'm having built will be gloss UD, but if I don't like it, I might wet-sand the clearcoat.

I have 3k and I liked it at first, now I wish I got UD. UD looks very cool in sunlight, my handlebars are UD and they look black indoors, but much better in sunlight.

match your frame and componentry finish. since i have otherwise non-carbon parts and frame , i went with UD to be the most discreet
