Any idea if these bikes are any good ? I couldn't resist buying one at that price... if anything i'll use it just to ride around the neighborhood/running errands. Anyone on this forum own one of these ? suggestions on what to swap out ??

Agreed... use it as is and don't expect much from it. It will get you from point A to point B and that's about it.
A good set of pedals will cost more than that bike, so forget upgrading anything.

Can you return it? If not, then see previous responses 2-4.

It is better to ride a lousy bike than not to ride at all.
That being said, please do not let my experience push you from riding.
I was looking to get a cheaper bike for my daughter. We did the TRU, Target Walmart run to keep costs down through this transitioning period. Every bike i took down had issues. Wheels on the same type of bike spun differently on each in the store. The chain were on too tight. Wheels would bobble and shake the frame when spun up from being out of round or they were not true (flat? - not sure the term) and would hit one brake pad on one side, then the other. We wanted to get my daughter a coaster brake and a rear hand brake to practice the transition to better bikes. The brakes were very simplistic, operated poorly and had no means for adjustment to speak of. I do not recall any lube being on the seat tube when we adjusted one in the store for her. It was bone dry. Not sure if any lube was used in assembly. All of this was seen on bike as high as $120+. We ended up going to a local bike shop and for only $40 more, getting a great bike, better brakes, smooth rolling tires and was properly assembled.
I am not saying the bike is bad but it might be a good idea to look on youtube and some web sites for bike assembly and re-grease/lube the bike and make adjustments where needed before you ride it. Of course you could take it to a bike shop for a tuneup but that could cost somewhere between 1/3 to more than the cost of the bike depending on what they have to do.
I hope I haven't burst your bubble but rather put you on a safer path where the bike will ride better and last longer. Doing all of these things will need to be done from time to time out of general maintenance anyway so learning is always a good thing to do.
best of luck with your new ride. Above all else, go out and ride!!
Frank

Don't upgrade the bike: get proper safety essentials such as a helmet, a u lock and lights.

Cool bike, I'll bet it's pretty fast. Matching pedals ftw.

Save the receipt, ride it like crazy. If it's good, keep it. Any non-trivial problems in the first three months (90-day return policy), return it.

Maybe he can't afford better. Or maybe he doesn't plan on riding much. Or maybe he's testing the waters to see if he likes riding before investing on a better bike.

Geez, you guys with the snide remarks...Having a sub-16lb bike is not a pre-requisite for participation on this forum, last time I checked.
Ride it. If you don't like it return it. If you can't return it sell it on CL for $145. You're only out $5.

Just take it back. Nothing good will come of this. Edit Just read your previous thread as linked by Darth. Don't know what's going on here.

It's all about the engine, as they say.
would be cool to upgrade it to di2 or some dura ace parts.

In all seriousness, I am of the humble opinion that a $150 Wal-mart bike, of questionable quality in manufacture and setup, is probably not the best choice to 'test-the-waters'.
If the OP was my friend or a family member, my advice would be exactly the same - irrespective of our well-documented BF prejudices.
$500 will buy a very respectable 'first' bike on Bikes-Direct, which can then either be sold for $250 or upgraded with nicer bits.
That's a net increase in investment risk of only $100 for the OP – and a much higher likelihood of a good outcome long-term.
