Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cycling Pacific Coast Highway

I have read that cycling the Pacific Coast Highway starting in Solano Beach is really nice. Can anybody confirm this? Thanks.

cycling the coast highway between the la jolla/ucsd area and oceanside (pier area) is the quintessential san diego ride. if you only have time for one ride in the county, it's the one.
it will bring a smile to your face the entire time. oodles of cyclists and plenty of places to stop for grub and grog along with bike stores for support if necessary

agree, but turn left at south end of Oceanside on Vista and go west to Pacific street to harbor.

Coast Highway is the cruise. It's pretty. Make sure you do the inside of Torrey pines hill to ucsd. Real switchbacks.

Now for honest to goodness bring the pain cycling, you will want to hit the Elfin Forest and.or DelDios loops. Check out the Swami.s weekend ride. I am not sure if the Thursday tri.ride is still going, but either will absolutely rip your legs off.
