My bottles never burp- but i do, and the bottles don't seem to mind- so i wouldn't mind if they did.
I sure do notice if my water is good and cold though. If I take a drink, and it's 95* or 100*, just a li'l sip of cold water will do it....but if that water isn't cold, I could drink the whole bottle and it won't help much......

I got insulated covers sewn.. for Sigg Bottles .. old school .. wet a cotton bottle cover .. ( tube sock?)
back in the day you put water in a canvas Bag with a cork stopper in 1 corner .
fabric swells up.. some leaks out, evaporates, and cools the rest of the water in the bag.

Under Armour Dominate 24 Ounce Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Bottle
The Under Armour Dominate 24 Ounce Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Bottle will keep your ice for 24 hours plus. However, it is heavy and every month or two comes out of its cage.

I began by freezing one water bottle completely and the second one frozen about 3/4 with the balance liquid. This provided cold drinks for maybe 3 hours. For longer rides of about 5-7 hours I began covering water bottles with old fleese socks and this worked very well. I've since purchased several yards of wind block fleece for another project and used a bit of it to sew up a "parka" for the bottles. This works even better and drinks stay cold all day for the longest ride.

Podium Ice are way better than Podium Chill, but the Chill is way better than the polar bottles. The Ice were discontinued a few years ago, but I did see them recently so looks like they are back.

OK, really... who needs cold water for 8 hours? I get an hour out of one bottle when riding so really - two hours of chilling is perfect.
You can definitely over-freeze the podium big chill bottles and render them undrinkable for hours.
I'll have to try those ice models - 21 oz vs 25 oz though. Hm.

A bit off topic, but curious:
What if I've left a water bottle inside of a hot car for a few hours? Obviously, I wouldn't drink the water in that case, but is the bottle still perfectly usable? Or does heat make it dangerous to drink from in the future?

I will say the Chill's are slightly larger, they'll give you a tighter fit in the bottle cage. In fact some plastic cages I had on one bike got stretched out by the Chill bottles and wouldn't keep an Ice bottle snug enough to be secure.

The Podium Ice bottles are better insulated than Podium Chill, so they'll keep the contents colder for longer. But the Podium Chill is quite a bit cheaper and holds about 15% more fluid (24oz versus 21oz), so I'm not convinced the Ice is better. After, the hotter it is, the more you need to drink.

Podium Chill here. I fill halfway with ice (icemaker in the fridge), and top off with water. I still have COOL water after an hour ride when its 90°+ out. Regular water bottles can be full of ice and in the same temps are warm by 45 minutes.
I like the valve, and never notice the noise till I get home. While I'm riding, I don't hear it over the wind, tires, dirty chain... haha

The Polar insulated bottles are likely the best, but it depends how long you want to keep your drink cool. Even if you freeze the contents overnight, you'll likely only get a few hours in FL's summer heat. I'm not so concerned about the drink being cold, just important to have something to drink. You can always stop at a convenience store to get something cold, or add some ice to your bottle.

Back from the dead... 2015 thread...
But to not make the resurrect-or feel bad...
I got the Camelbak Podium Big Chill water bottle 25 oz based on recommendations from the forum... not sure if it is because I am spoiled with the Thermos Vacuum Insulated 18 Ounce Stainless Steel Hydration Bottle that I use in my motorcycle... but it does not compare at all... ice on the Camelback Big Chill melts quickly in the Florida heat...
So now I am looking for a more efficient water bottle... the Thermos works in the motorcycle, but it makes a heck of a lot of noise on the bike, plus it is heavier...
