I am selling my 1999 Lemond Chambery OCLV road bike. I am the original owner and purchased the bike from Outback Bikes when they were still a Lemond dealer. The frame/fork are original and made from Trek’s OCLV carbon fiber. In 2009, I stripped the bike of all of its original Ultegra components, cleaned and rebuilt from the ground up with a complete NOS Dura Ace 7800 10sp grouppo, RXL wheelset and other goodies.
Since then the bike has approximately 300 miles and has essentially gathered dust – as seen in the pics. I’ve had several other roadies in the meantime always intending to hang on to this one for “old time’s sake”. Nostalgia aside, it’s time to sell and move along to someone else. Below is a complete list of components and spec. If you have questions, let me know. I am asking $1,100, or best offer. The bike is located in the Atlanta area and I’m happy to ship for an additional cost of $100.
Frame: 1999 Trek/Lemond Chambery OCLV. 55cm frame (56cm top tube) and fork. The fork is 1” threaded and, as can be seen in the pics, I’ve used an adapter to allow the use of a 1-1/8” stem diameter. In 1999, Trek still owned the Lemond name and co-branded their Trek frames. This frame is the same as a Trek 5500/5900 from that era.
Headset: Chris King threaded locknut.
Stem: Loaded 90mm, +/-7 deg. Also available is a Bontrager RXL 100mm, +/-7 deg.
Bar: Bontrager aluminum ergo bar, 44cm wide. Wrapped in Bontrager bar tape.
Grouppo: Shimano’s venerable 7800 10sp group. Includes:
Front Derailleur: braze on
Rear Derailleur
STI shifters
Crank: 53/39 x 172.5
Cassette: 12-25
Housing: Dura-Ace SP41 housing
BB: I *believe* that the BB is a 105 BB.

Wheels/Tires: Bontrager Race-X-Lite (2-3 extra spokes included) & Continental GP4000s.
Saddle/Post: Thomson X4 post with a Specialized Toupe 143 saddle.

As you can see from the pics, this cycle is in very good condition. The component grouppo could be sold almost as new and is worth the cost of the total bike. The frame/fork show some wear and tear with a few chips/scratches consistent with its age. The bike was checked out thoroughly and given a clean bill of health. This is a very light bike at +/- 16lbs and rides super smooth and fast. It makes for excellent club riding and would be a great way to get into a perfectly set up bike for very little money compared to the cost of new bikes.
