So, I have pretty good components, but I think I messed up in the way I built my drivetrain over time. It wasn't smooth in all gears and its still a little rough is some spots... very annoying.

Yea, the X2 is nice, but definitely out of my price range.

The specs on the Trance 2 are fairly decent. As you mentioned, it has the Marzocchi Supercomp fork, but a "Giant" shock in the back.
