Cat 5s putting in 700+ TSS/Wk are definitely not spending their time efficiently. It's not overly difficult to put in 450-550 TSS/Wk and race cat 3, as long as you're spending your time in the saddle...

There must be some mix between 2-3 hour rides, SST and LT...

They are 2002s, if that helps. I think Shimano didn't start making WH-7800s until 2004. Maybe after a certain year, they switched the 7700s to carbon?
