Those are a nice compromise, but I honestly fumble more with my toe clips than I do with my EggBeaters.
Trouble with the eggies is hopping on the fixed-gear with street shoes....not a good combo....

*sigh* I mixed it up in the other thread too. Before I go to the bike shop, I'm reading these posts and writing it on my hand before I make another stupid mistake for this thread :D

Yeah, I do this stuff all the time, with bikes and cars. Usually it's my own bike (or car) so when I mess it up too much, I accept my loss, and learn from it.

But take one of my current projects:...

Oops...i mean 24tpi to fit the Fuji fork. I'm sure I'll find one around here (Brooklyn). Lots of discarded bikes, and a few good shops with used and/or recycled parts.

Sonofa!
That makes a lot of sense. This project keeps getting trickier and trickier. It's a friends craigs-list fixed-gear conversion (oh boy), and it needed an overhaul for cheap. So I'm using as...

Am I cross-threading this headset?

I've got an old Triumph road frame (cottered cranks with a 3-bolt chainring), and I'm replacing the fork, which was bent out of alignment.

I found a lugged Fuji fork that's identical in size, even...

Yeah, the drum is a pretty simple design. Springs were all good, pads had plenty of meat on them. I just sanded down the surface of the pads to get all the grease and grime off them. I've been...

No, I'm not 100% sure they're 650B. The sidewall reads: 26 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/2
No shop or catalog seems to have such a match, and since the only tires I have lying around are 700c at the moment, I...

And for future reference, I used this chart from Sheldon: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/rim-sizing.html
The printed size on the tire really threw me off, since it didn't match anything, anywhere. I...

Whoah! Those are nice looking.....but yeah, that price.
Well, if the tires cost $130, that puts me at a grand total of $140 for the project, since I've only spent about $10 in grease and bearings....

Oh yeah, don't even worry. I've already torn down the hubs, pedals, BB, and headset and packed in fresh grease (and bearings when needed), resurfaced the drum pads, polished all the aluminum parts...

650B tire sources?

I'm looking for some non-knobby, 650B tires for my Norwegian bike project, and I'm hoping the randonneur's might know where to find them.

This is not a touring or long-distance bike, it just...

Any online sellers of non-knobby 650B tires? Maybe a randonneur supplier?
Pricepoint and the like don't seem to have that sort of product in their catalogs.

No metric measurements are listed on the sidewall.
I measured the interior of the rim (beadset) and used Sheldon's circumference conversion chart, and with my measurement of ~72.25", these might be...

Oddball tire size?

I have an oddball Norwegian bike with a strange tire measurement. A visit to a few local shops, and a quick look on Sheldon's tire chart, leaves me thinking that this is a one-off Norse tire size...

What chain for 3-speed cassette?

I have an old Motobecane childrens road bike with a 3-speed cassette (err....freewheel?) on the rear, and a double up front.
Would an 8-speed chain work OK for this setup?

Crappy pic:...

Yeah, I had already started to tear it down when I snapped the pics. The stem is out, so it looks wicked tall, but the bars themselves are actually pretty well proportioned to the rest of the bike....

450a tires

I'm fixing up a friends tiny Motobecane children's road bike. Neat little guy. Doubles up front, and 3 speed cassette in the rear, bar-end shifters. I've got the thing torn down, and I'm going to...

DBS Find

Came across this DBS in a friends basement, left by a previous tenant, and I inherited it when he moved out. I know they're sort of Norway's version of Huffy, but I'm wondering how common they are in...
