RockShox makes some decent forks at a decent price. Basically, you are going to have to pay a lot to get a really nice fork. I'd wait until yours breaks.

But I know a guy that rides a 29er hardtail because he loves how it rides on the road. He says that you get a lot more cushion out of those 29" wheels...

I bought a hardrock last spring to get into the sport. Now I want a stumpy. I'm happy with the hardrock, but I really want to upgrade. If you can get the 08 cheap and can swing it, do it.
