Disc brake question

Is it a bad idea to buy new 2008 or 2009 hydraulic disc brakes that are pre bled? will the seals be ok or does the fluid ruin them?

Dont have any. They're in good shape, no dents just normal cable wear on the frame. Fork seals are good. Im just trying to get in the ballpark of what they are worth.

Will the gearing be wierd or ok going alot bigger? Sorry guys total newbie. Ive been reading on it, some people say 5mm is alot and some say you cant tell a difference.
