Help me choose a new XC bike

Hi, everyone!
It's been a while since I've visited these forums. Time takes a toll on all of us - I no longer have my Norco 125cc and the highest drops I do are from the sidewalk to the road, hah....

Spoke length

Probably a dump question, but I have no idea how to answer it. :\

So I have a rim and a hub and now I need spokes... how do I calculate the spoke length?
I can leave it to the bike mechanic...

I've been hitting the gym and training for my athletics (sprint) though! Guess I won't mind the legpower when it comes to riding as well. :D

They don't seem to have them here in 26". HIGH ROLLER semi-slick looks nice though in case I want to hit the trails/DJs without changing the tires.

So, has anyone actually ridden something? :)

Slicks for urban.

So I've bought Alex DM24 rims, woot! :D
Now I'm choosing tires for urban/commuting purposes. I'm divided between Nokian XXX and Maxxis Hookworms. Any suggestions?

Rims for urban/FR

Sun Mammoth vs Alex DX32 vs Alex DM24... I'm thinking of the latter, any suggestions? Oh, and the frame is a hardtail - '01 Norco 125cc. No big drops on flat planned, mostly DR/DH/primitive urban.
