Also handlebars and stems are pretty inexpensive by way of bike parts, so if that doesn't work you could always just buy new ones.

I wouldn't ride it if I were you, I would fix it. I've had this happen to me, and I ended up messing up my rear deraileur becasue the tire tacoed on me. Better to have a new wheel than risk something...
