I overhaul my hubs based on feel and how smooth they are, so times it is 9months others it is 2 years. I check monthly. ON average I would say about 1.25 years.

The carbon seat post will be much lighter. You already spent a lot of money for a carbon frame, so why not continue and keep it light. The aluminum seat post could be 1/2 the wight of the frame.

Don't do a 60mm, it will be super twitchy. What do you have now, and what kind of stem threaded or not threaded. Lastly, I once had a cheap stem and it broke, pay the extra $20 and get a good one.
