Swap the bar and stem for the sizes you like in...

Swap the bar and stem for the sizes you like in Nitto, add Dura-Ace brake levers and Dura-Ace 9-spd downtube shifters. Get yourself a good seat and matching bar tape. That's my vote.

Have a look at the Michelin Krylion 25C. IIRC "Krylion" is the replacement for the Axial Carbon, with a (very) slight surface tread added. Just barely clears a Campy brake caliper.

IIRC there were older Record BBs (somewhere around 1987) that had 111mm...

I'm of the opinion that Shimano went to EBB because of Octalink problems. There does appear to be a possibility that EBB is stronger/more reliable than a traditional spindle. I think the reality lies...
