I have also found that the threaded valve stems are a bugger with some pump heads. I believe the non-threaded valve stems are called french stems. I just picked up a couple of Specialized tubes...

Thanks Frank, that post in then Bicycle Mechanic section helped. Before replacing the chain, I'll give everything a good cleaning, and then decide if I need a new cassette.

So I'm getting this strange skipping feeling once and a while, and after insuring that my crank bolts weren't loose, I changed my pedals and cleats.

That didn't help, so my next step is to replace...

1. You should be able to use his rear tire setup, but I don't believe you can go much bigger than a 2.3 on the rear wheel. The clearance is tight on the Epic.

Yeah, those wheels were my attempt to soften the ride a bit...they were my only option in the late 90's. The pedals were just extras I had laying around, I put my Dura-Ace clip less on the new ride....
