I think it's 5600 as I don't have hidden cables. First thing I want to change in the near future is the calipers and pads.....it has Tektro calipers and they take a lot of effort to slow the bike...

The red bumpers on the bottom are rubber pads which make walking in them a breeze....very comfortable shoe so far.

The Madone 5.2 is an Ultegra bike...the 5900 is a Dura Ace bike.

Also 2004 was the last year of the 5900 SL which was an OCLV 110 bike as opposed to an OCLV 120 bike that many other Trek models...

Good point....a shoe switch is involved. My Specialized road shoes are uber comfortable and the mesh material allows a ton of airflow into the foot...which was a much nicer luxury than I expected it...
