I just picked up a NOS version of this rack. Its a Topeak, Rak Mule, and the odd area under the rack is designed to hold a U brake.

Mystery Rear Rack, Can anyone ID?

Picked this up at the Habitat for Humanity store today. No brand name anywhere on the rack. The sides each clamp onto the main deck, that is extruded aluminum.

It has a couple of extra clamps...
