it wasnt interfering with the axle, that can only happen if you have a bent axle. i thought it maybe had defective threads and was tightened too far, but it turned out to be just a cheapo freewheel....

I think there might be varying degrees of x-mart bikes. in fact the quality might be getting better overall. my first "adult" bike was a wal mart roadmaster and it was just awful, thats what prompted...

I encounter this situation almost daily myself. With old brick sidewalks threatening sprained ankles, and nice wide lanes, the main drag going into my neighborhood sees alot of joggers in the street....
