I think the Mavic BB is overlooked when threads strip, or for making a French threaded bike 'normal'.

Instead of getting a french threaded bottom bracket use a Mavic bottom bracket instead (its still french, but not french threaded).

As far as BB go, its probably the best engineered BB ever....

Why not use a crank longer than 190mm on a conventional frame? Because of the likelihood of clipping a pedal?

Zinn Cycles makes cranks up to 220mm I think. There is nothing like riding a bike with the right size cranks. 175mm cranks are for clown bikes....someday I'll be able to afford a set of Zinn cranks....
