Couldn't you achieve the same result in a better fashion by putting a pre-suspension (smaller axle to crown) fork on a suspension-corrected frame?

Hmm. I thought the bike was 1994. I might be wrong.

Anyway, I do have a set of Exage brakes on a Rockhopper right here, and they are mostly plastic and one set will not center.

If those are the stock cantis on a Trek 820, I boggle at people prefering them over Vs. Cheap modern Vs are superior to a lower end Trek's cantis in pretty much every regard.

That's actually a really nice frame with rebadged True Temper OX II tubing. The frame is better than the parts hanging off of it.

Diamondback is one of the most underappreciated old MTB brands.

The '87 High Sierra geometry does not seem like the early Stumpjumper geometry.

Maybe I'm just used to seeing those bikes with bullmoose bars rather than drops.
