I think the B/M would be the way to go... much easier to make parts.. simpler design, less to go awry ... especially the front suspension.. would want 406/451 accommodation... and track...

Geared low for sure.. with over 400% range of the Alfine11, no real need for the Patterson... and you gain only 3 lower gears below 26 g/i over running a single chainring.. other than the 'coolness'...

hmmm, I don't think so.. I'd guess the bolts only secure the hub axle ... it's a single sided rear stay... the bike has an eccentric bottom bracket for chain tension..
